MAY 2021 BEST STILL PHOTOGRAPHY

FROZEN CHAOS by Lukas Van Loon, Germany.

Artist Statement

This shot shows a frozen lake in Bavaria – Germany called “Eibsee”. It was taken at a 120m height with the camera tilted down at a 90° angle. The pattern of the frozen ice is probably the result of trapped air that was slowly released by submerged plants at the bottom of the lake. Winds might have also played a role in forming the pattern on the ice´s surface. It is clear that nature itself – and not human intervention – created this beautiful abstract pattern. One might mistake this picture for a macro shot showing the inside of a cell or something similar. However, it is an aerial shot taken at a 120m height.
Our world is precious and we have to take care of it.

Schatten, by Miguel Zavala.

“Todays citizens are dispossesed of their free will and choice by great corporations who limit their options in life to study, live decently, take vacations, choose how enjoy their free time, have children or select a profession. Governements participate in this perverse game passing laws that only give those citizens the choice of a cellphone, being a bit simplistic. Thus we are shadows, carcasses of consumers that move around in a pre-set sensless life, devoid of content and expectancies”.
